This course consists of 3 hours a day of Spanish classes. 10:00 to 13:00, Monday to Friday. The course also includes a special programme of visits to places of interest in the city, a lunch or dinner in one of the city’s famous restaurants, and an excursion outside Barcelona to e.g Costa Brava, Figueras and the Dali Museum. This programme has been designed for students over the age of 50 that want to combine learning the Spanish language with learning about the culture of Spain, socializing with people of similar interests.

The school in Barcelona is situated in the centre of the city – less than 5 minutes’ walk from the Plaza Catalunya, which is the hub of the city. It occupies 6 floors of a large corner building, which has a distinctive, triangular shape (somewhat similar to the famous ‘Flat-iron’ building in New York). The building dates from the beginning of the last century and has many attractive features; a very decorative street entrance, lots of natural light, marble staircase and high ceilings. The school was one of the first in Spain to set up an internet classroom. When it is not in use for teaching, it is available for use by students. Access for 30 minutes is free.

A varied programme of social activities is offered. These include ‘Welcome’ cocktails, visits and excursion to places of interest in and around Barcelona, video films in Spanish, concerts by local musicians and ‘exchange evenings’ at which students can meet and talk with other students who are learning English. There are also two evening excursions per month to experience some of Barcelona’s unforgettable nightlife.
